We currently aren't offering a black and white rush service. We previously charged a $15/roll fee for a same or next-day rush, but the demand was too high to continue. If you have something that really needs to be rushed, just send us an email.
Immediately after you pay your invoice, your scans will be automatically emailed to you in a zip file which you can download from the provided link.
Probably not. We are "asap" in everything we do, but we do not offer guarantees for any specific amount of time. We do this because load fluctuates and running a lab is full of surprises. If you dropped off your color film before 2:00pm, you should expect it that same day. If you drop off after, you should expect it at some point the following day.

Yes! We offer up to three stops of push and pull processing for both color and black and white film. If you want your film pushed, please mark the canister clearly and notate it on your drop off form.
We do not expect to ever process E6 (color positive / slide) film. The chemicals are less stable and there is not much demand. We may offer ECN2 (cinema film) processing in the future, but do not right now.
We offer small, high-res, and maximum resolution scans in either JPG or TIFF (+$2 / roll) format.
scan | px | size (megabytes) | price |
---|---|---|---|
small | 800 x1200 px | ~.3-.7mb | no cost |
high res | 2000 x 3200 px | ~1-2mb | no cost |
max res | 4400 x 6000 px | ~12-20mb | +$3 / roll |
We do! We offer 4x6 prints for all rolls developed at our lab. You can select it on your drop off form, or order afterwards in the delivery email you receive. If you want to purchase prints from past rolls, you can do so at this link. We are only offering prints for whole rolls at this point, but we may offer single prints in the future.
Absolutely! We have a super simple process which you can follow at ship.atxfilmlab.com
While very rare, mistakes or equipment malfunctions can happen. About 40 different things have to go right in order for film to be correctly developed. Complex chemical reactions and industrial equipment are part of the nature of the medium! The equipment that we use was built for the prime of film development, and has a lot of safeguarding against human or mechanical failure, but will never be 100% perfect. If something goes wrong, we'll be honest with you about it (and feel absolutely horrible), but there is rarely anything that can be done to salvage the film. We of course don't charge you in these cases, but we are unable to accept liability past that point.
When your film is ready, we’ll send an invoice via Stripe (our payment processor) to the email address you provided. You can pay via Apple Pay, credit or debit card, bank account, or a number of other options.
It happens to the best of us - no worries! We’ll take that roll off your invoice and send you an email to let you know.
We donate $1 for every roll we develop + scan. Currently, we donate to the Austin Wildlife Rescue. AWR rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals. They also offer educational programs about native Texas wildlife and have been helping the animal community since 1977. AWR is very near and dear to our hearts. The work they do to save and nurture animals, and teaching us all to preserve our native wildlife is so so so important!
Your negatives will be placed in the dropbox when requested. Arrange a pickup time using this scheduler. Because of the small space and in order to keep your film safe from the elements, we keep them inside and don’t place negatives in the box until they are requested. We need at least five hours notice to have your negatives ready same-day. We do not arrange pickup times after hours or on the weekend, but after they have been placed in the box you can pick them up any time. For example, if you need to pick up your negatives on Tuesday morning before we open, fill out our scheduler on Monday before 5pm.
They'll be held for two weeks before being sent to the big film lab in the sky if not picked up.
Certainly! If you select “mail back” on your drop off form, we will cut and sleeve your negatives and mail them to the address you provided. We provide this service for a flat $6 fee. We batch our mail orders to be efficient with our USPS trips, so give your negatives about 6-8 weeks to return to you <3
